Of Play and Pursuit - Arvia in Los Angeles, CA

Of Play and Pursuit, a composition of structural installations by Aaron Farley from his “Home is not a house” series, that are implanted throughout Arvia’s outdoor landscape and continuously redefined through your participation.

Aaron Farley approaches the construction of his wooden structures with the same creativity and natural problem solving instincts as a child building a makeshift shelter, like a fort or a tree house. They are uninhabitable, but aesthetically complex in form and assembled using similar techniques as one would employ to build the framing of a house. The value, however, lies not within the sum of their parts, but within their total functionality as a means to inspire the natural impulses in the participant to engage with the world using multiple senses. Bold, primary colors evoke the memory of play, an invitation to touch and move within the work and to explore new paths among the gravel and the weeds.
